The annual inter-departmental hockey tournament has changed format. This year each team is guaranteed 5 games (2/week Tuesday Thursday ) when the 2 teams with the best records will battle for the CUP. Players of all levels are invited to play. Badge of Pride - The Passionate Eye

Twenty-five years ago, Toronto's gay pride parade was a protest march, held to speak out against police raids against gay bathhouses. In 2005, the city's Police Chief, Bill Blair marched alongside the muscle boys, the leather daddies, the drag queens and the dykes on bikes. It was a first for Toronto. We've come a long way. Or have we? Badge of Pride is a documentary that looks at the lives of gay cops in Canada; cops who are out, cops who are closeted and cops who are somewhere in between the closet and the cruiser.

In September of 2009, The Edmonton Police Association and the City of Edmonton reached a settlement agreement regarding compensation. The agreement was signed in good faith following 11 months of negotiations and allotted funds already in the 2009 Edmonton Police Service budget.

On September 24, 1998 the Government of Canada officially proclaimed the last Sunday of September of every year as Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day. This National Memorial Day gives Canadians an opportunity each year to formally express appreciation for the dedication of police and peace officers, which made the ultimate tragic sacrifice to keep our communities safe.

Unfortunately, our comrades are falling at an alarming rate; six to eight officers a year for the last twenty-three years. We now have a total of approximately seven hundred officers on the Honour Roll. The importance of their sacrifice is overwhelming. [...]
